Nero Burning Helper
This Helper is designed to assist in the creation of CD/DVD media on Windows using Ahead Software’s Nero CD/DVD authoring application. The Nero Helper supports Nero Burning ROM versions 6.6.1.15 and later or Nero Express versions 6.3.1.17 and later.
When the Nero Helper is used for Archiving, shortcuts are created on the desktop that can be used to easily create CD/DVD media or disk images for the archived files. These shortcuts launch nero_helper_app.exe, a special application installed by the Digital Storage ManagerVirtual Ticket Developer desktop client installer for Windows. This application uses Nero Burning ROM or Nero Express to author the archived files to CD/DVD media.
Note: These features are available only in the Digital Storage ManagerVirtual Ticket Developer desktop client for Windows.
Archiving with the Nero Helper
Note: This procedure assumes that you are in the process of archiving files and that you have the Archive Options window open. See “Archiving files and folders” for more information.
- Select a CD or DVD Media Type in the Archive Options window.
- Select the Nero Helper from the Archive Using menu.
- Make the remaining selections in the Archive Options window as younormally would. (See “Archiving files and folders” for more information.)
- Click Continue ( ) when finished. Archive media folders will be created in the selected destination. Shortcuts for authoring CD/DVD media or for creating disk images of the archive files will also be created on your Windows desktop. These shortcuts will have the same media labels as those defined in the Archive Options window. You will have one shortcut for each archive media folder created in the archive destination. For more information on using these shortcuts, see “Authoring CD/DVD Media from shortcuts created by the Nero Helper” and “Creating Disk Images from shortcuts created by the Nero Helper” below.
Authoring CD/DVD Media from shortcuts created by the Nero Helper
Note: This procedure assumes that you have already archived files and folders in Digital Storage ManagerVirtual Ticket Developer with the Nero Helper selected as an archiving Helper. See “Archiving with the Nero Helper” above for more information.
- Double-click a Nero Helper shortcut. The shortcut will attempt to open the nero_helper_app.exe application. If successful, the Choose Recorder information will open. (See note below for more information on the nero_helper_app.exe application).
- Select a physical device to use to author the CD/DVD media and click OK ( ). A Waiting for Disk dialog window will appear. (Note: The “Image Recorder” virtual device is used to create disk image files and not to author CD/DVD Media. For additional information, see “Creating Disk Images from shortcuts created by the Nero Helper”.)
- Insert suitable media into the selected CD/DVD drive. The window will close automatically when the CD/DVD media is loaded. The Burn Progress window will open.
Note: If you are using rewritable media, and the media is not empty, you will be prompted to erase the media before writing to it.
- The Burn Progress window will indicate the progress of writing the archived files to CD/DVD media. When finished, close all remainingwindows related to authoring the CD/DVD media. If you want to create a duplicate CD/DVD, you can begin the process again by double-clicking the same shortcut file on your desktop. Otherwise, shortcuts may be deleted from you desktop when you are finished creating your media.
Creating Disk Images from shortcuts created by the Nero Helper
Note: This procedure assumes that you have already archived files and folders in Digital Storage ManagerVirtual Ticket Developer with the Nero Helper selected as an archiving Helper. See “Archiving with the Nero Helper” above for more information.
- Double-click a Nero Helper shortcut. The shortcut will attempt to open the nero_helper_app.exe application. If successful, the Choose Recorder information will open. (See note below for more information on the nero_helper_app.exe application).
- Select the “Image Recorder” virtual device and click OK ( ). (The Image Recorder virtual device will always be present as an option in the Choose Recorder window.) The Save As window will open.
- Type a name and select a location in which you want to save the disk image file. Click Save ( ) when finished. The Burn Progress window will open, illustrating the progress of creating the disk image.
- When the disk image(s) have been created, you can close allremaining windows related to authoring the CD/DVD media. If you want to create a duplicate disk images, you can begin the process again by double-clicking the same shortcut file on your desktop and following the steps in this procedure. Otherwise, shortcuts may be deleted from you desktop when you are finished creating your disk images.
Note: Disk Images are created in Nero’s unique .nrg disk image format. You can use Nero to manually create CD/DVD media from these disk images.
About the nero_helper_app.exe application
The nero_helper_app.exe application is automatically installed by the Digital Storage ManagerVirtual Ticket Developer desktop client installation wizard. If necessary, you can automatically install the nero_helper_app.exe file by re-installing the Digital Storage ManagerVirtual Ticket Developer desktop client, updating the Digital Storage ManagerVirtual Ticket Developer desktop client using the auto-update feature, or by manually copying the nero_helper_app.exe file from a location where it has been installed to the /solutions folder of your Digital Storage ManagerVirtual Ticket Developer installation directory.
- I suspect the problem is that you're burning at 16x, thus the medium error. You should try a burn at 4x. If it works, you can work your way up the next time.
However, your version is not up to date. Please go to the Nero ControlCenter and run the check for updates. You might want to do that first before trying another burn. - That's the section I was referring to when I mentioned the medium error. For those kinds of errors, we recommend reducing the burning speed, trying another disc, another batch of discs or another brand of discs.
