superior to anything windows 10 offers for media ripping and burning in my opinion. if you are on a budget, then I would download the trial which is totally useless, but when it expires, they usually send you an offer for at least 30% off or they used to .
Cons
it's not free. i think most complaints on here are about the trial software which is complete crap, but the full version is a very good program

if you operate with limited funds, then I would say probably pass; but if you like all the bells and whistles, then I would go for it. one function (of several) that I recently used, that windows doesn't have, is the multi session disc: there wasn't enough room on the disc for the data. Using multi session, you can span the data across several discs if needed. obviously you wouldn't want to do that for a movie or music disc, but it works great for a drive image (back up disc) . yes, you can do that with free software also, but it's nice to have in one package instead of dickin' around with several different programs.

Pros
You get to watch a barrage of advertising pop-ups after the install. Then discover you actually installed a few things you weren't even aware of. Except that's not really a Pro... no is it...
Cons
Useless download. Not only excessively limited in features, its functionality is so limited you'll never learn whether its work buying or not. It can burn a whopping 100KB file. I can't find a file small enough to test it with. Absolute waste of time.
Summary
Forget the download and play solitaire instead.

Apparently, the makers of Nero are real survivors... kind of like cockroaches. How are they still in business? If I buy a paid copy of this program, do I get a free 8-track cassette? I'll call and find out, let me just pick up my rotary dial phone.... If you do buy the program and request a hard copy instead of a download, I think they send it to you on a stack of punch cards. I got a million of 'em, folks.

This program wasn't that good back when I was living next door to Barney and Betty Rubble, I can't believe anyone would buy it now except maybe for people who watch MeTV all day. What I'm trying to say is that it's outdated, and sucks.

Don't bother buying this software. It got worse after years of "development". All the reviews below are true. If you simply need to burn a video or other files on a CD, you can do it directly using Windows. There are tons of free programs for this. Nero is done for.

I used to use Nero years ago and hoped that this would be a good option to help me write some MP3 files to a CD while keep the original album sort order.
Cons
The free version that I installed allowed me to create a 700 mb playlist, but when I when I tried to burn to disk it informed me that the free version will only write 100 megabytes on a disk. IThis rather important detail was
It also installed and automatically some suspect "system checking" program, which I immediately cancelled and uninstalled. Also, if I hadn't chosen "advanced options" it would have installed something weird in my browser and changed my search configuration settings!
Summary
Useless and very suspect with what it tries to install on your system. Beware!

Nero Burning ROM
CD-ROM UDF and UDF/ISO (Bridge) support added. Nero Cover Editor.
New features include twin VQ Encoding/Decoding, audio echo filter, and audio drag & drop implemented for Windows 2000.
Early versions of Nero version 6 would burn only data DVDs using the ISO 9660 file system. Though DVD drives seemed to have no difficulty reading single-layer discs, compatibility with dual-layer discs was problematic.
For unknown reasons, Nero 7 Ultra Edition Enhanced for North America has no LabelFlash or DiscT@2 support as Nero 7 Premium for Europe does.
Fixed all prior reported flaws, updated Booktype support, and added further options for high definition discs.
