    Version 4.10.3

Ciao Splicers! All good on your side? We are doing great as well, thanks! Anything new, you’d ask? Well, not much to be honest, just a few bug fixes that (hopefully) will result in performance improvement.
    So far so good.
Take care, talk to you soon!

Close to paid software! Amazing for free!

This software is great for quick mobile editing of footage that surpasses iMovie’s jumpy interface. I love the feature where you can scrub through footage to find highlights, much like Adobe Premiere Pro. I also love the text options and how you can place text anyway on the screen, anyway! Lastly, my favourite feature of this free app is good quality music!! Very hard to get access to great audio tracks for free!!

My suggestions for improvements would be to add fade in/fade out options for video so that the video starts from and end with black. Adding an option to export to 4K would be nice since most phones can now capture in 4K. Scrubbing through the timeline is a bit tricky if you’re trying to make precise cuts, which it seems this app is not designed for. But having a line that runs over the timeline and adding a “split video” option at the timeline playhead would be an awesome addition.

Seriously though, I’ll be using this app for my on the fly edits! Thanks guys and gals!

    Amazinguitarists! ,

    You’ve got one problem

So the new update was totally cool but I absolutely hate how you have to keep your device portrait and that it won’t turn around to landscape so if the next update can Rotate around the screen that would be amazing! Also if you can wright down the makers of the songs in the app that would be great! Oh one more thing when you want to make something louder you can’t because it’s already on %100 and that is annoying too because I talk too softly and half the time I can’t even hear what I’m saying so for the makers can you pls make the sound half way or something like that so you can make it louder or softer. Thanks hope there’s something done about it!
    Bye!

Can’t upload music from ITunes 😡

The app is good in the sense where you can upload as many photos and videos as you like and put each in the order that you’d like however there were a few problems that I faced:

    1. I had selected roughly 300 photos and was almost about finished (which took me so long to do in the first place) then I went out of the app to reply to a text message and when I came back to app it had crashed and I had to restart. (I didn’t close the app at all I just clicked into my messages for 2 seconds and came back). This infuriated me.

    2. It says in the audio support that you can import music from your iTunes however you can’t. I have tried so many different songs that I have. I have tried to close the app and restart it. I have tried to restart my phone (which I have the latest iPhone so I’m sure that my phone shouldn’t be the problem). So I now cannot upload any music whatsoever. This reason is also because the music from the app is very old and boring and to be fair I couldn’t recognise a single song on there.

    3. Exporting the video (saving it to your device) can be quite slow sometimes but still decent. I don’t mind it but if there was music in the video it’d make the wait worth while. 🙄

I would recommend the app to friends but only if you don’t mind a soundless video or if you want to use the crappy music they offer.

Overall is a decent app but should fix the music part. At least update your music to have a few popular songs.

    Thanks.

10 Best Free and Paid Video Editing Apps for iPhone and Android in 2019 (For All Skill Levels)

The saying “there’s an app for that” has never been more true. There are plenty of great video editing apps for almost any skill level, ambition, and project. Before we run through the best iPhone and Android video editing apps, take a quick moment to think about the next video project you have in mind.

How much effort are you looking to put in?
How often you think you’ll be editing videos?

Your answers to these questions will help dictate which phone video editing app you want to consider. Whether you've never even edited a video or you’re a video editing ninja, our team of professional video editors has handpicked the best video editing apps for you whether you're on an iPhone or Android device.

The apps we're going to be discussing vary greatly in their capabilities and cost. Keep in mind that just because an app is more expensive does not mean it will better suit your needs. We expect to add a few more great apps to this list over the coming years as the desire to share videos is consistently increasing. Let's get into it with a surprisingly powerful mobile video editing app.

    Lumafusion (iPhone - $29.99)

    Available only on iOS

Lumafusion is by far the most advanced iPhone editing app. It’s built to look and feel like a tradition desktop video editor like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro and has some impressive capabilities.

    Who it’s for?

    • Beginners or intermediate editors who want to learn on the most extensive and technical software
    • Advanced video editors

    Pros:

    • Most options for video/audio/graphic layers (up to 12 tracks)
    • Options to export at various frame rates (18-60 fps) and resolutions
    • Most options to organize footage, quickly scrub through footage, add notes, search and sort projects
    • Ability edit in landscape orientation and can create animations and effects

    Cons:

    • Higher learning curve than a more basic app like iMovie and Splice
    • Navigations and icons aren’t as obvious and have many sub-menus
    • Full access to everything (sample video, backgrounds, more songs, and sound effects) costs up to $100

Quik - GoPro Video Editor (iPhone and Android - Free)

    Available on iOS and Android

GoPro Quik is one of the easiest (and free) video editing apps for iPhone and Android. The app is made by GoPro and can be used to edit any videos shot on your phone, GoPro or any other camera. It works by selecting clips for your video and then choosing a video style from one of the templates. Choosing from a video theme makes it very easy to generate a video although your creative freedom is very limited as you cannot deviate from the selected theme.

    Who it’s for?

    • Beginners editors
    • If you want to put in the minimal amount effort to make a video

    Pros:

    • Videos are easily generated using GoPro's themes from your selected photos, videos, and time-lapses which you can reorganize to your liking
    • Supports cinema (16:9), square and portrait formats and it’s easy to change between all three options
    • Allows you to remove the GoPro Quik watermark at the end of the video (for free)
    • It's free

    Cons:

    • You must choose a video theme and there is no way to fully manually edit your video like most other video editors
    • All the themes very animated and might not be suited for your type of video
    • Only 9 free music options
    • Video transitions are defined by the theme and cannot be edited
    • Shortening and trimming clips isn’t as easy as other apps
    • Options for adding text on the videos are limited

    iMovie Mobile (iPhone - Free)

    Available only on iOS

iMovie is often overlooked on both smartphones and computers when considering free video editors. Since it’s included with every iPhone, it’s a decent option if you’re looking to make a quick and dirty video that is shot in 16:9 aspect ratio (learn what that means here (link))

    Who it’s for?

    • Beginners
    • If you have a very simple project in mind and aren’t too picky about the final result

    Pros:

    • Easy to import clips, duplicate, merge, trim and re-organize in the timeline
    • Includes 80 free audio tracks that automatically adjust to match the length of your movie
    • Can edit in portrait or landscape orientations
    • Includes 6 basic scene transitions

    Cons:

    • It’s the most basic video editor and isn’t as polished as other free and paid options
    • Does not support vertical (portrait) videos (will crop videos to be square and turns them sidewards once exported)
    • Susceptive to glitching
    • Filter options are limited and no options to manually edit the exposure, highlights, etc...

Splice (iPhone - Free Trial then $2.99/week)

    Available only on iOS

Slice is one of the best all-around video editing app for iPhones if you’re looking for an easy video editor. Slice is slicker than iMovie, has better transitions and tons of music and sound effects.

    Who it’s for?

    • Beginners or intermediate video editors
    • If you want an intuitive video editing app and don’t mind paying a few bucks a month for it

    Pros:

    • Easy and intuitive for basic video projects
    • Lots of free music options (16 different genres with 9-26 tracks in each genre)
    • Simple to trim, duplicate, split clips, add filters, transitions and text
    • Allows you to edit the footage manually using brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, temp, and hue

    Cons:

    • Can only edit in portrait mode (i.e. can’t edit with your phone sideways)
    • No quality/resolution options when exporting and exported videos last until the end of the song unless trimmed
    • There is only one video or one audio track (InShot, Lumafusion, and Kinemaster have many tracks)
    • At $2.99/week, it's more expensive than other options

InShot (iPhone - Free with Paid Options)

    Available only on iOS

InShot is one of the most popular apps although we’ve found that it’s not intuitive to use as Splice, Quik and iMovie. Nonetheless, it’s still a pretty decent all-around editor that is free with some paid options.

    Who it’s for?

    Pros:

    • Includes a free basic photo and collage editor
    • The good free music selection
    • Free video transitions stickers and text

    Cons:

    • Always includes ads at the top of the screen
    • Not as intuitive as Quik, Splice or iMovie
    • No pinching feature to zoom in/out and to trim videos in the timeline
    • Transitions aren’t intuitive to apply
    • Videos are watermarked unless you paid for the Pro version. The best video transitions, filters, and stickers are also reserved for the paid version.
    • One of the most expensive apps ($4.99/month, $19.99/year, $47.99 one time purchase)

Bonus content: How To Make A Travel Video In 3 Easy Steps

Video Editor & Video Maker - InShot (Android - Free with Paid Options)

    Available only for Android

One of the most downloaded and reviewed video editing apps for Android. It’s a good app for beginners and people getting into video editing.

    Who’s it for?

    • Beginner and intermediate editors

    Pros:

    • Easy to trim, cut, crop, merge, and zoom-in on videos
    • Allows you to rotate video 90 degrees and flip videos up/down and left/right
    • Easy to mix photos and video
    • Supports 4K video

    Cons:

    • Watermarks on non-paid version
    • Ads even on the paid version
    • No video transitions on Android version

Adobe Premiere Clip (iPhone and Android - Min $9.99/month)

    Available for iOS and Android

Based off the highly popular desktop version, Adobe Premiere Clip is a very trimmed down of Adobe Premier Pro. Avid video editors might rejoice in the comfort of an Adobe app but will likely soon be disappointed by the limited features.

    Who’s it for?

    • Anyone who already has a paid Adobe Creative Cloud subscription

    Pros:

    • Easy to import, splice, preview and insert audio to make a short movie
    • Auto-sync across devices and can be sent to Premier Pro to continue editing
    • Includes transitions, slow-mo effects and has a smart volume feature which evens out audio levels
    • Allows you to change the exposure, highlights, and shadows for each clip (you can’t do it for the whole video)

    Cons:

    • Requires an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription ($9.99-$82.98/month)
    • Editing is not as intuitive as other apps such as Splice and InShot
    • No editing layers or tradition timeline found in the desktop version
    • Doesn’t support vertical videos (will crop the video to 16:9 and ad black bars)
    • No support for .mp4 and .mov files
    • Only exporting options are 720p and 1080p

Kinemaster (Android - Free with Paid Options)

    Available only on Android

Kinemaster is another of the leading video editing apps for Android. It’s got features which a more advanced than some of the more basic features, although you will have to pay for some of them.

    Who’s it for?

    • Beginners and intermediate video editors
    • If you want a little bit more than a basic video editor

    Pros:

    • Multiple layers of videos and audio
    • Supports 4k video at 30fps as well as many other aspect ratios
    • Decent selection of included video transitions and sounds (although the majority are reserved for paid users)
    • Allows side by side videos

    Cons:

    • Must pay $4.99/month to remove the Kinemaster watermark and unlock other features
    • Glitches and errors during exporting are common

Magisto Smart Video Editor (iPhone and Android - Free Trial then $9.99-$69.99/month)

    Available on iOS and Android

Magisto is a popular (and expensive) video making app. Note the words… maker. It’s not really a video editing app. Basically, it creates a video for you using the clips you select which is similar to the functionality within GoPro Quik. This might sound great for beginner users, but beware, the themes are a little over the top and you won’t be able to change the generated video.

    Who it’s for?

    • Beginners
    • If you don’t want to edit anything and don’t care to learn anything about video editing

    Pros:

    • No need to learn anything about video editing
    • Videos aren’t watermarked

    Cons:

    • The videos it generated tend to be very animated and a little over the top for travel and adventure videos
    • The app can take several minutes to render a video that you might not like with no option to change it
    • The app is costly for casual users. Even the Premier ($9.99/month) and Professional ($19.99/month) versions lack certain features like 1080p exports and have video time caps.

PowerDirector (Android - Free with Paid Features)

    Available only on Android

PowerDirector has some great editing features which aren’t available on Kinemaster, GoPro Quik, and Adobe Premiere Clip. However, it’s not as intuitive for basic operations like splitting and trimming videos.

    Who it’s for?

    • Intermediate and advanced video editors

    Pros:

    • Ability stabilize video and a greenscreen feature so you can place yourself in a different background
    • Allows you to add voice to videos

    Cons:

    • Limited to only two editing layers
    • Exports at 720P by default. Must pay to export at 1080P and 4K ($35/year)
    • Must pay to remove the watermark
    • Not as easy to trim videos like other apps

Video editing on your phone doesn’t need to be a daunting task. Although it will take some time and a little creative juju.
