Software
Because of the rise of YouTube and video tutorials, screen-casting programs have become very popular. I have used screen capture programs in the past, however now they just don’t cut it. Screen-casting software not only captures, but it also allows editing. As a blogger, I sometimes create screen-casts tutorials, which require quick and painless publishing. I recently switched from PC to Mac because Macs make a lot of things easier to do. The main reason I believe this is because of Apple’s simplistic approach. I have started using Telestream’s ScreenFlow, which follows this simplistic approach (simple yet powerful). It had a very small learning curve of about five to ten minutes.
Features
ScreenFlow supports high-resolution screens with ease. If you have multiple screens ScreenFlow gives the option of selecting the required source. The feature that I believe differentiates ScreenFlow from all other Mac screen-casting software is the ability to “Callout” a window after recording is over. This is no simple zooming technique, it actually makes the window larger compared to everything else on the screen. This could be handy in case you did not know you want to Callout a window before finishing recording. One of my favorite things about ScreenFlow is the way it saves project files. Every project file contains all files needed to open the project in one package. That way files are not all over your hard drive. When you are constantly moving, copying, deleting, and creating new files having one file per project is helpful for organizational reasons.
Support
When contacting Telestream’s support I always received a fast effective response, which shows the Telestream team is there to stand behind their product. I have found some small inconveniences that I have reported to Telestream hopefully they can accommodate for fixes soon (At the time of writing this post the version I am using is 1.5.2). Firstly you must add a video or audio effect for each clip separately, you cannot just drag it from one clip to another. When adding an additional recording with the “Close ScreenFlow before recording option” selected without saving the entire project prior. It will ask you to save the project, but then it won’t record you must to go back and select add additional recording again. Another feature I feel would make ScreenFlow even more amazing would be the ability to blur out personal information such as usernames and passwords. I have received a reply from the support team looking into all these issues for the next version.
As a screen-casting program ScreenFlow ticks off all the boxes I need. It is a very powerful yet easy to use program. I can create screen-casts fast. I am glad the Telestream team made it very simple and not a full-blown video editing solution. This way the application file size stays small (13 Megabytes), the program does not get too complicated, and performs what it does very well. On a final note I noticed that Telestream have made this program amazing by building it systematically. First they got the basics down and slowly they add features as opposed to building it with all the features they can think of. That way the program not only works better, but also is formulated better. I would recommend it for any Mac user that needs to produce screen casts. - Track Select - Cursor will change to a right facing arrow in this mode. When clicking on the timeline in this mode, clips will be selected forward of the current selection (from left to right). This is on a track by track basis.
- Clip Editor – ScreenFlow 9 adds a new clip editing feature that allows the user to select an individual clip and view it on the left-hand side of the main document user interface.
- From there, the user can preview the video & audio, and perform quick edits to the clip, adding the resulting clip directly to the timeline.
- New Click Effects
- Media Proxy – Proxy, a well-known tool found in professional non-linear video editing suites is now in ScreenFlow 9
- When editing large resolution files, or long GOP files that will give any editor a run for its money, a lower resolution variant of the file called a proxy can be made to edit and operate with a more “ideal” format in relation to system resources.

Known Issues:
- ISSUE – Exports with motion blur leaks memory. On high end machines, this may not be noticed, but on lower end or older machines, it could lock up ScreenFlow. We plan to fix this in a 9.0.1 hotfix as soon as possible.
- ISSUE – Adding a Stock Media Library to the clip editor and then the timeline when you have not purchased the Stock Media Library, will show a catalog error rather than a message to inform you that Stock Media Library requires purchase.
Version 9.0 contains hundreds of bug fixes, not all of which can be listed here. There are also additional user interface/user experience enhancements, and improvements to the general stability and performance of the application, that are not able to be listed here.

can't think of any except slow upload (sometimes) and last time i downloaded it to my old computer after 3-4 uploads it wouldn't upload after that to any of my youtube channels it just stayed at 0% or went to half upload and never continued moving???

It didn't work after a few recordings, it just wouldn't let me record.
Summary
The only problem really is that it stopped letting me record! The record button just didn't show up, and eventually I just stopped using it. Please fix this, because besides this, it's great.

The software is very easy to use. Easy to start and easy to stop. The videos are easy to splice, rearrange, zoom in, add captions, starting and ending transitions, etc, etc. Quality of video is great and so is the quality of the voice recording.
Cons
A little pricey. If you are making videos as helpful favors to other people, it may be hard to justify the cost.
Summary
I am not a professional videographer! But in my field I need to create demo videos showing how to use our industry's specialized software. It took me a little bit to figure out how to use the features in Screenflow, but in the end it was worth it! The software is very, very easy to use. Easy to start and easy to stop. The videos are easy to splice, rearrange, zoom in, add captions, starting and ending transitions, etc, etc. I've been thrilled with it and so have my viewers. They've often commented on the quality of my videos and all the credit goes to Screenflow. I do have a hard time justifying the cost. However, the software is a great help to me so I was willing to fork out the money and try not to think about the cost anymore.

Easy to start, stop, and name a recording. Good quality picture and sound using built in audio and streaming video. (I have not recorded anything containing music, or from any source other than streaming video.)

I have no idea how to edit anything with ScreenFlow.
Summary
When using the fast forward and fast reverse features, it jumps to the beginning or end of the session. Clicking on the time bar above the sound display works, but occasionally freezes the visual. A users manual would be very helpful.
Also, when I tried to purchase the product, I had to use a free version first. The next day, the free version evaporated. I went back to the home page again, and had to use a free version again, and finally found a link that allowed me to purchase the full version. The link was not easy to find, and was not obvious. (You know, some people, and I am one of them, would just prefer to have the choice of buying the program immediately, or trying a free version first.) Given that choice the first time I visited the site, I would have bought it first, then tried it out.
I don't like being made to jump through so many hoops in order to buy something I want. (This product was referred to me by an online marketer not associated with Apple. That is why I would have purchased it on the first visit.)
Despite the problems I had just trying to give money to the vendor of this product, I do like it and have used it several times. However, I cannot express how much I would like to have access to a users manual.
