It has different formats you can save in.

Not easy to use and the format is not useful.

Summary

I prefer the version before this one. On the previous versions, I paid to register the software because it was worth it. Then one day I noticed that some video I recorded had the watermark dispalyed, like I was using an unregisterd license and re-entered the info and it worked for a couple of days, then the program seemed to disappear from my computer. When I went to re-download it from the sight, I had to download the newest version and pay for the registration again. I am still baffled that one day I have it, then the next day I didn't. ZD Soft think they took a few steps forward, but in my book they took 39 steps back. Dont waste your time.

Pros

Slick, reasonably easy interface. Probably will fit most needs.

Cons

Doesn't work consistently with live streamed webcam video. Why pay $$$ for features you can get pretty much for free elsewhere? Trial version adds small identifier to top left video frame.

Summary

ZD Soft Screen Recorder 4.0, the latest version of their video capture software, looks polished. And, for most people, it works very well. I consistently captured video and sound from YouTube videos. Quality was good and that's configurable. However, my real need was to caputure a funeral broadcast over the web live. Since the source is not a file. This is tricky. Long story short, tests were frustrating because of inconsistent results. Once no video or sound. After that I could always get good quality video but sound was hit or miss, mostly miss. My luck it was a miss when I tried to capture the service. Decent for grabbing video files like YouTube but there's free software on the market to do that.

records audio, has better quality then hyper cam :]

its not free, you can only have a certain amout of uses out of it before it expires :P

its alright it records audio, has better quality then hyper cam, its not free. i'd rather have it free then paying for something im only using for youtube tutorials xP

Pros

Most in game video recording programs will give you massive FPS drops. but Surprisingly will Recording A Dead Space 30 Mins. I Only had a drop of about 18 FPS. thats insane for a Resolution of 1920 by 1200 Recording.

Cons

I think $30.00 Is a little over what its worth. considering there are many free Video Recorder programs out there. such as Xfire's Video Recorder

Cons

Does not record audio after various settings changes. A real pain to use. You are supposed to press F8 to start and stop, which sounds easy; however, when you do, you always get a teeny, tiny cross so that you set how much of the screen to record. You have to choose that frame EVERY time you press F8. Video is choppy and audio doesn't work.

Pros

Recording quality is excellent. Several codecs and ability to configure quality settings. Works well for making recordings to be edited by other programs. Customer service (Email) is fast and helpful.

Cons

Few features. Must draw size of region to be captured every time program is started. This is a real pain when making many short recordings using the same region size, such as full screen. ZD Soft Screen Recorder is a better choice. (Similar to Video recorder, plus it restarts set up exactly the same as when last used. You can select capture full screen, a window, or draw a region. Has pause.)

I really didn't like anything about this program

Cons

Oh, plenty. There's a 2 minute download minute on the demo. What's 2 minutes long anymore? They should have stated this on the description. Anything's better than this!

Pros

The registered version allows unlimited recordings.

Cons

The video quality isn't that great. Worse: half the time I try to start the program, it won't load and asks me to restart my computer.

Pros

Easy to install - I was recording within a minute of installing. Tried recording from some streaming video in Media Player, got exactly what I was watching in a file, sound and video - compression rates not bad. Changeable video codecs, and sound recording options. For quick and easy 'what you see is what you get' - then this does the job - tested on XP - seems very stable and gives good results. Look for ver 2.0 at home site.

Cons

As I only needed something to create quick and easy screen tutorials, and capture a bit of streaming video, I haven't found any. 3 minute limitation on demo mode - could have done with 5 min. (minor niggle)
