Every episode’s webpage has an audio player for streaming with a download button. Simply click ‘play’ on the audio player to listen online, or download the podcast onto your computer. When the download has finished, you can open it with your media player of choice.

What is Podcasting?

Podcasting combines the terms iPod and broadcasting to describe a new kind of radio for your MP3 player and computer. Some have described podcasting as a kind of TiVo for audio on the Internet.

A podcast enables you to easily download audio files to your your MP3 player through your computer. You use a free application to "subscribe" to NOW's feed, the application checks the site regularly and starts a download whenever it finds something new. That means you can listen to NOW's weekly features any time you like, wherever you like! If you want to listen on the go you'll need an MP3 player, but you can also listen to podcasts on your computer.

How do you get started?

Here's what you'll need: a computer, an Internet connection, some free podcasting software, and to take the podcast with you, an MP3 player. That's it!

Use the links listed below to download free podcasting software on your computer, (these applications below are available for both PC and Mac platforms). Next, install the software on your machine and then follow its instructions to "subscribe" to NOW's feed (this is usually as simple as pasting the URL for our podcast into a subscribe box). An audio file of the latest NOW program should now be available within your software and the next time you synch portable MP3 player, NOW will be there. For iTunes users, go to the Advanced tab in the top menu, and select Subscribe to Podcast.

• What is the best podcast software?

All the programs we’ve included on our list are viable solutions if you want to listen to your favorite podcasts. However, in terms of flexibility and reliability, we’ve concluded that iTunes is the top contender in this situation.

• How to record a podcast without any software?

You can skip acquiring any third-party podcast recording software and use Windows’ built-in sound recorder, called “Voice Recorder.” However, note that it doesn’t offer you much in terms of features. It only enables you to record your voice, and trim the recording. You will still need a microphone.

Usually, you don’t have to pay to listen to podcasts or download them to your PC. However, after subscribing to them, some podcasts let you download older recordings of their show in exchange for money.
