nice simple little program that sits in the background, and pulls up the weather data when I need it, without me having to do the searching. been very useful for deciding whether to go fishing or not. have been using it for 9 years and it has evolved well, even more use now with weather map integration. easy uninstall, easy to move cities if you travel

well paying for it i suppose, though it used to be by donation which was very nice. installs well. haven't evaluated any other ones. moderate learning curve.

This used to be the number 1 weather program when it was free and completely bug free now it costs money and it is bugged severely. The creator got too greedy it appears.

Gives you the accurate information from Weatherbug without the adds. Nice display. Plenty of local local locations to choose from.

Eventually you have to pay.

It's only 9.95 per year, but I'm not going to pay for a weather app.

in my previous review. This is a fine application and Mr Singer deserbes his $10 for his work. I just got so used to "free."

Uses Weatherbug data rather than weather.com.
Must be for contract/money reasons, but still very accurate on my local airport. Updates need to become more real time not 10 to 15 minutes behind as in Florida, blink and the weather changes!

I live in Tyndall SD, this new version only allows me to select Yankton or Mitchell SD (which are 35 & 50 miles away) which have very different conditions & tempatures than Tyndall. Reinstalled older version that does cover more rural locations.

WW Live uninstalls easily.

I signed-up for update notifications of WW, not WW Live. After being notified and opting to download version 6.1.03 of WW, I was redirected to a site for a 30-day free trail of WW Live; not what I wanted or signed up for at all.
Summary
Being re-directed to a site to download a trail version of the free-ware is trickery; and tantamount to lying. If I wanted the WW Live, that's exactly what I would have installed in the first place. If I had to pay for a weather service, it wouldn't be WW Live. I was not impressed or amused by Weather Watcher's trickery.

The free version, the one we’re promoting because this is the freeware pick of the week, gives you a three-day forecast for your location – and you’re limited to two locations – yours and someone else’s – or if you’re wealthy like EB and live in two locations at once, this program will serve you well. If you live someplace warm, enter any Ohio city for fun. Right now it’s raining and 48 degrees. Wait until January and check back — enter any Ohio city and you will find you have more fingers than we have degrees.
Anyway…
The developer really loves his program (and so do we) so he waxes liltingly about it – such as:
“We are trying to make YoWindow close to reality. The location of the sun, moon, moon phase, sunrise and sunset times correspond to the actual values for the place you choose. The look of the landscape changes considerably depending on the season. YoWindow selects the most appropriate season for the given date at the place you choose (we use weather history). Scroll through the year using the calendar – and you will see how seasons change.
The weather is updated automatically, fast and only on necessity.
You can use YoWindow as a reliable world-clock. Whatever location you choose, the local time displayed by YoWindow is correct. Daylight saving time is computed flawlessly. Occasionally, you may notice interesting objects in the skies like a plane or a shooting star.”
No, honest, TC didn’t write it was either Mr. Yo or Mr. Window – they don’t say. Anyway, wait there’s more. Mr. Yo and Mr. Window haven’t even begun to effuse:

By now you’ve learned exactly what YoWindow is and who Mr. Yo and Mr. Window are. And thanks to their flowing prose, you didn’t have to listen to me prattle. I’m so wont to prattle you know.
It’s a really useful and fun program. While I’ve seen no birds flying nor animals loping over the landscape (yet), I’ve seen clouds moving, the moon phase correctly displayed, fireworks spraying the skies with sublime splendor. and the landscape matches the season – autumn here in the Northern Hemisphere (Is that capitalized? It is in my book!) . It’s 50 degrees (F) here tonight –no bird or loping beasts are moving about. It’s a quiet, October night, in October. When else would you find an October night?

We tested the installer on 17 October 2013 and it was free from any sort of bundled software or trickery. A reader wrote on 20 October 2013 telling us there was malware bundled with the installer…we checked the installer again — keep in mind this is only 3 days after we tested it the first time, and Yowindow’s installer now has not one, but two, but malware programs bundled with it and a browser hijacker. Here’s a screen shot taken 20 October 2013:
This is UNACCEPTABLE. Everyone who has downloaded this program needs to contact the author and complain about his underhanded way. Make a difference and tell everyone about this developer using your computer to make money. He’s already made the free version restricted — the program is good enough to give users a 30-day trial and at the end of the trial they can buy it for $9.98 if they like it. But this is just plain deceit. And you need take a stand on this and write to this company and tell them what you think.
Here is what we wrote on 18 October in our newsletters:
We tested the installer on 17 October 2013 and found no other software bundled with it. The free version is very useful but the paid, unlimited version has more features — and if you’re really into weather and strange pictures and scenery, the unlimited (paid) version may be worth the $9.98 (sounds like Wal-Mart pricing) the developers are asking for it. Not a bad price, but free is nice and the free version is excellent – naturally, or we wouldn’t be prattling on and on and on.
We go through a lot of work to ensure we recommend only excellent freeware without bundled installers and without trickery. This shows you how quickly things can change. Are we flip flopping? You bet.
