Suggestions

I initially input full documents of many songs as individual songs, and that freaked it out so it shut down a lot. I'm now going thru the long process of inputting each of those songs individually, hoping that will make it shut down less frequently. So far I have two things that really annoy me: 1) When it decides a song is in a key different than it is, so the chords you see in edit mode are not the same chords you see when looking at the song. This drives me crazy. 1.5) It would be great to be able to split a song into multiple keys and not have it auto-change the chords. 2) It would be SO helpful to be able to insert photos similar to sticky notes. I am a visual learner and write notations to indicate the melody or my own shorthand for riffs/strumming patterns. I would love to be able to insert photos into the songs in order to have this important information all in one place.

I haven't used the app much because it's been months of me inputting all my music the way I want it, and still relying on my paper music instead. I'll update this review in another few months when I finally have everything in and have switched to only using my iPad.

Just Wow!!!

UPDATE: I am still completely amazed at how OnSong has improved my entire performance. I do not go on stage without it! The best part is I have is set up on an external monitor hidden in a case that looks like an instrument monitor. Nobody knows it is even there which makes me look good :D

I bought this so that I could consolidate my chord charts (digital and otherwise). It is just blowing my mind. It can control my lighting for me without even having to touch the screen (I use foot pedals to navigate through my sets). I no longer have to rely on my friend who may have had enjoyed himself a bit more then he should have prior to the performance. I can send charts to those who may be joining me on the stage during the week so that we are all on the same page before we get to the performance. I am ready to start using the Connect feature so that I can have an extra device with me and whoever ends up with me will see everything I am and I can keep my eyes on the crowd and not sending cues to whoever.

The best part of this is when I had questions, the OnSong crew actually provided answers and helpful hints that blew me away even more. They provided clear consise answers and links to all their video tutorials. The app is better then any software/app that I have paid hundreds of dollars for in the past.

Must have app for Musicians!

I use the app in church while playing on our praise and worship team. I digitized our church's entire library of chord charts which consisted of two 3" large ring binders. A lot of work upfront but now everything is on my iPad 4. You can transpose your chord charts on the fly, make up set list,etc. I use the Airturn brand wireless 4 pedal system to hands free scroll up and down the charts, turn pages, move to the next song without missing a beat while playing guitar. I've also used it to project the lyrics onto the screen for the congregation to follow along with the song. I've even taken my iPad and the OnSong app to Guatemala on our annual mission trips. It's so convenient to have literally 1000+ song chord sheet contained on my iPad. It seems I'm adding to my OnSong library constantly. There are many more features included that I don't even use yet. Of all the apps I've ever purchased this was the best $20 I've ever spent. The folks at OnSong are constantly updating this app and their online presence and customer support are the real deal. If you don't already own this type of software or have tried out other companies versions but we're left wanting more now is the time to get the OnSong app ( I am in no way affiliated with this company- I just love this app!)

Version 1.1 Has Been Released It has been a busy couple of weeks in the OnSong office.  We have had a great response so far to OnSong Console for Mac, but like any first release, we've found a few areas we could improve stability an performance as well as fix a crash when running OS X 10.9.  We have also created atutorial videoon how to connect your devices. We hope this will help you get up and running more efficiently. As always, we will continue to improve OnSong Console for Mac with more updates and tutorial videos.  If you have any feedback or issues, please contact our Mac support staff atmacsupport@onsongapp.com Over the last few versions we've added features like chord tagging and new MIDI sync events as well as improvements to our rendering engines to be more consistent across multiple file types. We have also fixed many issues when running OnSong on older versions of iOS.  For best results, please backup your library and update when you have time between gigs.   Use Different Diagrams on Chords Chord charts are great for singing lyrics and the basic chord structure of a song. OnSong has the capability to show you chord diagrams so you can play these chords. How you play a chord makes a difference with how the song sounds and easily transitioning between multiple chords. Wouldn't it be great to get a different diagram depending on where you are at in the song? In the latest version of OnSong, you can now set multiple chord variations throughout the song with a few simple taps.Watch the Tutorial Apple is set to launch iOS 10 within the next few days and we at OnSong want to make sure you are prepared.  It can be unsettling to wonder "should I upgrade or not?"  To help reduce that anxiety, we want to let you know our plan and offer a few tips when considering an iOS upgrade. 1.  If It Ain't Broke... At OnSong, we work hard to ensure OnSong works great on every version of iOS we support.  However, we've had to make a number of adjustments this past year as Apple has changed iOS 9. Please be aware that operating system upgrades can cause issues in many apps you use.  Confirm that all of your critical apps are working as expected before making the leap. 2.  Be prepared.  While you should never experience data loss when upgrading iOS or OnSong, there is always the potential for an unexpected problem.  We recommend that you always keep abackup of your OnSong Libraryandyour iOS devicebefore you upgrade. 3.  Allow plenty of time.  Never install an iOS upgrade or OnSong update prior to a show. Give yourself plenty of time to use the software and learn about new or changed features. OnSong providesfull release notesanddocumentation to get up to speed.  This also gives us plenty of time toanswer your questions or helpto get you up and running.
