Fallout 4 Was the UK’s Favourite Game in 2015, Says Retailer GAME
by Jasmine HenryLeave a Comment
2015 was a brilliant year for gamers as we saw the return of iconic franchises such as Rock Band and Fallout and there were wonderful indie hits in Jotun and LA Cops. But of all the games that we released last year, which one was our favourite?
Seeking to answer that question (for the UK, at least) is UK retailer GAME. The retailer recently ran the ‘Game of the Year 2015’ survey, quizzing 1,615 shoppers on which titles they were absolutely enamoured with during the last 12 months. The full results of the survey can be found after the break.

FIFA 16 Update Improves Ref Decisions, Player Positions and More
by Jasmine HenryLeave a Comment
Making sure that the annual football sim isn’t just a set of roster changes, publisher EA has included plenty of gameplay tweaks in FIFA 16. Promising ‘innovations’ right across the pitch, the game features improvements to goalkeeper fundamentals, tackling momentum (that allows defenders to get right up after a slide tackle), and better interception intelligence as well.
In practice, the changes make FIFA 16‘s footballers much smarter than they were in FIFA 15 and EA has gotten as close as ever to making a perfect, virtual recreation of the beautiful game. It’s still not completely perfect though and so in a new FIFA 16 update, EA has addressed fan feedback, improving the gameplay based on what FIFA 16 players have requested.

Black Friday 2015: EA Origin Offering Up to 75% Discounts on FIFA 16, The Witcher 3 and More
by Jasmine HenryLeave a Comment
Every year on Black Friday (the day after the American holiday of Thanksgiving) the world’s shoppers descend onto their local stores, or sign into their favourite retail websites to bag an enormous bargain. The problem is is that when you’re off work or you’ve got a tummy full of turkey, the last thing you want to do is wake up at the crack of dawn just to spend some more of your hard-earned cash.
Sympathising with those of us who aren’t fond of early mornings is EA, who, instead of hosting Black Friday sales on the day itself, or hosting timed deals throughout the day, is doing a weeklong Black Friday sale on its Origin storefront instead. A variety of games (not just EA-published titles) are up for grabs, with discounts of up to 75%. Find out more after the break.

Pro Evolution Soccer Will ‘Clearly Lead’ FIFA Soon, Says PES Product Manager
by Jasmine HenryLeave a Comment
As we’ve been documenting in our coverage of both games, Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 and FIFA 2016 are both proving to be excellent examples of football sims. While FIFA has made great strides by including female footballers (although 13 of them were nixed because of the NCAA), PES looks absolutely astonishing and we can barely tell virtual Neymar Jr. apart from the real man himself.
In fact, so positive have the reviews been for PES 2016 (it’s currently sitting at 87 out of 100 on Metacritic) that the series’ product manager Adam Bhatti is convinced that the Konami sports franchise will be beating its EA rival. Bhatti reveals their plans for this in a new interview which you can read after the break.

FIFA 16 TV Ad Features Messi, Alex Morgan, Kobe Bryant and More
by Jasmine HenryLeave a Comment
Konami’s football sim Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 may have recently been called “the greatest football game of all time” by some critics, but EA isn’t going to take that lying down. Keen to show off one area where FIFA 16 excels – its official licenses and partnerships – EA has released a star-studded advert that will soon start airing on TV.
A whole bunch of famous footballing names are including in the FIFA 16 TV spot, with cameos from the likes of Messi, (USWNT forward) Alex Morgan, Sergio Agüero and Brazilian legend Pelé is featured too. Even LA Lakers baller Kobe Bryant is in the video. You can watch the full thing after the break.

FIFA 16 Ultimate Team Trailer Explains How EA Is Cracking Down On Coin Sellers
by Jasmine HenryLeave a Comment
FIFA Ultimate Team has been around since FIFA 13 and although it has become massively popular since then, so have the methods of abusing it. Something that runs rampant in Ultimate Team are coin sellers; people who obtain coins (required for buying in-game packs and cards) through illegitimate means such as bots, and phishing scams.
EA has tried their best to combat coin sellers, even taking down the transfer market in FUT’s companion apps (including the one on the web) as they were especially being used by scammers. The problem has still prevailed though, making it harder for proper FIFA players to buy the cards that they want. That’s all set to change in FIFA 16 Ultimate Team though, as a new trailer explains what’s being done to make the upcoming mode more secure.

EA Exec on Diversity in Gaming: ‘It Can’t Be All White Males’
by Jasmine HenryLeave a Comment
More than tedious gameplay and extortionate free to play models, diversity in gaming is one of the most contentious topics within the industry. The games that we play and the people that make them are are predominantly made up of white men and it has been a big talking point over the past few years about how developers and publishers can do more to represent the people who are playing their games.
EA is one such publisher that is looking to improve the diversity of its workforce in a big way, using its D&I (Diversity & Inclusion) policy to help that. In a new interview, EA COO Peter Moore says that D&I is “never far from our minds when we make hiring decisions” and he states that it “can’t be all white males”.

When FIFA 16 launches in a few weeks, it will introduce several new game modes including exhibition matches between women’s national teams and the FIFA Ultimate Team Draft. Both with introduce some variety to the FIFA gameplay experience but ultimately, it’s the FIFA 16 career mode that will capture most people’s attention.

EA is really hoping that FIFA 16 can impress the football game-playing masses. The publisher and developer has told fans that we will get ‘innovations’ right across FIFA 16‘s pitches, having even released a trailer to show off the new gameplay additions. We can expect more ways to score, trickier ways to dribble and slide tackles that flow just like they do in real life.

FIFA 16 Trailer Looks at Celebrations, Commentary and More
by Jasmine HenryLeave a Comment
When FIFA 16 is released next month, it will include a range of new gameplay features. There’s no-touch dribbling, women’s national teams and there’s that huge online mode, FIFA Ultimate Team Draft. These things will hopefully make the game’s £40/$60 price tag feel worth it, but they aren’t the only new things that will contribute to the FIFA 16 experience.
If you’ve played a FIFA game before then you know that even the little things can make a huge difference, such as the soundtrack (which is regularly spectacular) or the way the crowds look less like bad papier-mâché projects and more like real people with every annual update. EA has packed the upcoming sports sim with loads of these small changes, and now they’re showing them off in a brand new FIFA 16 trailer called ‘Sights & Sounds’.
